Eight Montana businesses are being given a pat on the back for their excellence in workplace safety.
The annual Governor's Safety and Health Awards conference was held Thursday in Missoula. And this year Lieutenant Governor John Bohlinger and Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Keith Kelly handed out awards to 20 recipients for their workplace safety records.
One of the winners was CDM from Libby Montana who works in connection with the EPA and the Libby Asbestos Superfund cleanup. U.S. Environmental Project Manager Mike Cirian says they don't ever compromise on health and safety.
"I'm very proud of it because I don't compromise on health and safety and they have taken that serious, there is nothing better than to get recognized by the governor but this is very important."
"These businesses are making safety part of their culture, something we hope all Montana businesses will do," Kelly added.
The Governor's Public Health and Safety conference is also used as a vehicle to promote the awareness of workplace safety through model sharing programs.
