Work is on schedule at the Flathead Emergency Services building which officials say will be one of the best centers in the Pacific Northwest.
Construction started in April and now the building is enclosed and interior work is underway. The move in date is projected for the beginning of February.
The 911 building will consolidate 4 dispatch centers and emergency services in Flathead County. The building costs are targeted to finish about $800,00 less than the 6.9 million bond amount.
The Emergency Services director says new dispatch technology will give emergency capabilities a huge leap forward.
"It's just a huge increase in the public safety capability in the county, this is going to be one of the premiere centers in the Pacific Northwest, so it's just neat to see it coming together finally," said Mike Peck, Director of Emergency Services.
The 911 bond for the emergency services center was approved last November.
(from July 14, 2009) Officials report that work is on schedule and on budget at the construction site of the Flathead 911 Emergency Services building.
The work started on the building in April after years of planning. The 911 building will consolidate four dispatch centers and emergency services after voters approved a $6.9 million bond for the center in November.
Some new dispatch technology mainly funded by federal and state dollars will enhance emergency capabilities.
The Flathead Emergency Services Director says work is may be a little ahead of schedule and there have only been a couple minor setbacks. Mark Peck Added that the 911 project is also staying on budget with only a few additions that cost more money.
"That $5.3 million cost of the building and the overall $6.1 million we built in a lot of contingency money just in case something happened. So we're totally anticipating we're going to come in on scheduled budget," Flathead Director of Emergency Services Mark Peck said.
Construction should be done December 15 and the move-in date is the beginning of February.
