Children in Missoula will be looking for more than just treats on Halloween night.
Thanks to the help of the Davidson Honors College at the University of Montana, school kids from across the area will be taking part in the annual "Trick-or-Eat" food drive which will benefit the Missoula Food Bank.
The food bank reports that they've recently seen a jump in the number of people coming through their doors, and that in September they served over 5,200 clients, which is believed to be an all-time record high.
"We are very excited about Trick-or-Eat this year," said Jennifer Ternes, Student Coordinator from the Davidson Honors College. "In the past, going out into the neighborhood to collect canned food for Missoula Food Bank has been a huge success. To see the donations roll in each year makes us proud that we are giving back to the Missoula community."
The ghosts and goblins taking part in the drive will hit the streets of Missoula on Halloween night asking people to donate non-perishable food items to Missoula Food Bank.
"This drive helps fill our shelves at a very important time," said Nick Roberts, Missoula Food Bank's Development Director. "As we are serving more clients than at any time in Missoula Food Bank's almost 26-year history, this committed community support is critical."
The Missoula Food Bank is located at 219 South Third Street West in Missoula, and can be reached at 549-0543 or via e-mail.
