TOWNSEND - Several football players from Broadwater High School in Townsend were involved in a one-vehicle rollover on Friday afternoon. One of them died and three others were hurt in the wreck.
The Montana Highway Patrol responded to the crash at about 3:20 p.m. on Friday on Montana Highway 284 near Ray Creek Road northeast of Townsend.
The three people who were injured were taken from the scene for medical care, but the nature and extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Broadwater County Undersheriff Wynn Meehan says that speed appears to have been a factor in the rollover.
Jim Holland, the athletic director for Broadwater High School, says that Friday night's homecoming football has been canceled.
Authorities have not released the names of any of the victims yet. We will update you as more information is available.
