ELLISTON- The Montana Highway Patrol reports that two teenagers are dead after a motorcycle accident that happened near Elliston on Thursday evening.
Troopers were dispatched to U.S. Highway 12 near mile marker 22 for a report of a motorcycle accident at 11:40 p.m.
The two motorcycles collided in the east bound lane of the highway. The driver of the first motorcycle was a 14-year-old female from Elliston. The driver of the second motorcycle was also a 14 year female from Elliston. The second motorcycle was carrying a 15-year-old male passenger from Elliston.
The driver of the first motorcycle and the passenger of the second motorcycle both sustained fatal head injuries and were declared dead on scene. The driver of the second motorcycle was transported to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
None of the teenagers were wearing helmets and officials say the first motorcycle did not have active head lamps. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation, but MHP reports speed was not a factor.
