BIGFORK- Operation Finally Home Flathead will be able to start construction on its first Montana home sooner than expected, thanks to a surge in community donations.
Volunteers are in the process of building a mortgage-free home for a Flathead veteran and earlier this week, the local non-profit group raised about $25,000 at their Bigfork fundraiser and auction.
The money will enable them to finally purchase lumber for the structure, and they will begin digging on the site this Monday.
Operation Finally Home Executive Director Terry Kramer says they only need to raise about $20,000 more to complete the home.
