Knoxville, TN - A pair of children abducted from Tennessee have been found safe and sound in Missoula according to the U.S. Marshal's Service.
Clifford Leo Skees was a fugitive, who was wanted by Sevierville (TN) Police Department, after failing to return Jedidiah Skees, 7, and Samantha Skees, 4 to their mother after being ordered by a Tennessee court to do so on February 5, 2010. He and the children had last been seen in London, Kentucky on February 5th.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC http://www.ncmec.org) requested that the U.S. Marshals Service assist in the investigation to locate the missing kids and several law enforcement agencies worked in an effort to find the children.
Authorities received a telephone tip from an observant citizen on Thursday and the investigators from Sevierville P.D. and the U.S. Marshals Task Force learned that Clifford Skees had recently attended a small church in Lolo.
Smoky Mountains Task Force investigators then relayed this information to deputy U.S. Marshals in Missoula and deputies located Skees and the children at the Ponderosa Lodge in Missoula.
The children are now with the local child protective services agency in Missoula and SKEES is in the Missoula County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Tennessee to face the charges against him.
Skees may also face additional charges in Kentucky as he is under investigation for Failure to Appear on an outstanding criminal charge in that state.
