WHITEFISH - An aerial obstacle course is attracting tourists to the Flathead Valley.
Whitefish Mountain Resort has been building up summer activities for the last few years, mostly recently adding a seventh zip line and the Aerial Adventure Park.
Resort spokeswoman Riley Polumbus says the recreation activities on Big Mountain are one of a kind.
"We're offering a lot of things up here. From the feedback that we get-people that have traveled to other resorts, everyone is really positive and impressed with what we've got to offer."
Building up summer activities at Whitefish Mountain Resort could give tourists another reason to stay an extra day in the Flathead Valley and to stimulate our local economy.
Lynn Taylor and her family are visiting the Flathead Valley from Alexandria, Virginia, and she said they specifically planned to stay in the Flathead Valley because to see the Aerial Adventure Park before heading onto Glacier National Park.
"We came here because my daughter loves zip lining, whitewater rafting and this obstacle course kind of adventure and so we're going to be here for two days," Taylor said.
Polumbus said many tourists, like Taylor, come for Glacier Park but add the Whitefish resort to their trip.
"[We're] also having a lot of locals bring up their family and friends when they have visitors in town," she said.
The Aerial Adventure Park could be expanded in the future. In the meantime, the popular mountain biking trails on Whitefish Mountain Resort will be expanded as early as mid-October.
