Amber Alert issued for Canadian child, car seen entering Montana

An Amber Alert has been issued for a child from British Columbia who is believed to be in "imminent danger," and who may be in northwest Montana.

The CBC is reporting that Alvin Barnett, who police believe abducted his three-year-old son in southeastern British Columbia, has crossed the border into the United States, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

RCMP identified the boy as Alvin Barnett, and the abduction suspect as his father, Robert Barnett.

Police said they are travelling in a blue 2002 Subaru Outback with B.C. licence plate 347SBL, according to the RCMP.

The Amber Alert states that Alvin was taken by his biological father in Elk Valley, British Columbia.

The Subaru was seen crossing the border in Eureka at about 3:15 p.m.

The alert also states that "the child is believed to be in imminent danger "

The father is described as 39 years old, 5'5" tall, with reddish-blond hair, and a scar above his right eyebrow.

Police said anyone who spots the vehicle should not approach it, but should call 911.
