MISSOULA- There's still no sign of former militia leader David Burgert who shot at Missoula County deputies nearly four months ago. Investigators are now working to compile information from all agencies involved in the case, to help them in the search.
Missoula County deputies stopped Burgert on June 12th after a suspicious vehicle report was made to 911. Burgert then led the deputies on a pursuit that ended on Wagon Mountain Road, off of Graves Creek.
He fired multiple rounds at the pursuing deputies before taking off into the woods on foot.
Burgert is facing two counts of attempted murder for this incident. The Sheriff's Office has been working on compiling all of the information to simplify the case.
"Cumulatively, that is a mountain of paperwork. So my plan is to gather all of that from all of the different agencies-who have had contact with, or who have been working on the David Burgert incident. Send that to the Rocky Mountain Information Network and they are going to put all of those files in that whole mountain of paperwork together into one, basic Powerpoint presentation," Missoula County Sheriff's Office Lt. Dave Conway advised.
Burgert is 6'2" and weighs 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a bluish colored shirt and fanny pack. Burgert is considered armed and extremely dangerous. If you have immediate information on Burgert call 911. If you have information on the suspect that's not time-sensitive, call Conway (406) 258.4810 or Crimestoppers (406) 721.4444.
