DEER LODGE - Authorities have identified a man killed in a Wednesday morning crash near Deer Lodge that involved an elk, a car, and a semi truck.

Powell County reports the victim is Yun Seok Kang, 41, of Denver, Colorado.

A passenger car with two people hit an elk while traveling westbound on Interstate-90 in Powell County at around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Montana Highway patrol Trooper Tom Gill.

Gill said after hitting the elk, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and hit a semi truck head-on.

Kang was a passenger in the car. The driver, a woman, was taken to Deer Lodge by ambulance and then airlifted to Benefis hospital in Great Falls.

Gill said no one in the semi truck was injured.
