A Kalispell construction company is the apparent low bidder for the next portion of the Highway 93 Bypass.
Knife River of Kalispell entered a bid for the project of $8.1 million and the Department of Transportation received six bids on Thursday for the major construction project.
All of those came in under the engineer's cost estimate of $10.2 million, but the bid will not officially be awarded until December 8th.
This portion of the bypass will extend from Highway 93 south to Airport Road. A Utah company got the other portion of the southern half of the bypass.
DOT Director Jim Lynch says they expect work to begin this winter on the bypass.
