MISSOULA - Some big features are headed to a movie theater and we're not talking about movies.
The Carmike 10 Cinemas is adding two new auditoriums to its North Reserve Street location. Both will seat 400 people, more than twice what the largest one seats now. The screens will be bigger, too.
Carmike Cinemas city manager Richard Taylor said moviegoers said it's hard to visualize just how big the new 80-foot long and two-story high digital "signature" screen will be.
"The largest screen that I have right now is only 36 feet long. It's more than double than we've got now, It's gonna be amazing."
Both auditoriums will feature wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling seating. That brings the theater's total screens up to 12.
A Billings Carmike Cinemas just received a similar addition and opened last weekend with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Taylor expects the construction to be complete this October but he doesn't yet know which movie will play for the screen's debut.
