Big Sky Conference shares Top 50 moments and athletes

MISSOULA - The Big Sky Conference is celebrating a golden anniversary this year. And that has the league reminiscing. To honor 50 years of athletics, the Big Sky recognized their top moments and athletes. They've reached number 20 on the countdown, and as you would expect, there are plenty of Montana Grizzlies on the list.

In the top moment’s category, who doesn't remember this? Anthony Johnson going off for 34 second half points to help UM beat Weber State in the 2010 conference championship game. Best individual performance we have ever seen in person.

On the list of great moments you'll find UM hoops almost beating mighty UCLA in hoops. As well as two entries from an incredible football playoff run in 2009. Plus the moment Dave Dickenson's legend began with a comeback over South Dakota State.

Anthony Johnson's heroics ranks number 25 on the list. The national title by the 2001 football team is 23rd. Sandwiched between them, the day Griz fans want to forget. The Bobcats ending the streak.

As for the top athletes, Tim Hauck, distance runner David Morris, Michael Ray Richardson and Kroy Biermann all ranked between 20 and 50 on the conference list.

Conveniently enough, the Big Sky is also celebrating 25 years of women's athletics. They've released number 14 through 25 on the ladies list. Griz soccer has two of the top moments. Their record setting number of goals in 1997, and their NCAA tournament win in 2000.

Lady Griz guard Skyla Sisco comes in as the 18th best athlete.

The league will release the rest of the countdown throughout the school year.
