BIGFORK- A Bigfork man is facing charges for his reported involvement in the shooting his own son.

James Gonzales is being held in the Flathead County jail on assault with a weapon and aggravated assault charges in connection with an incident that happened near Bigfork.

Emergency crews received a call about shots fired on Deerfoot Trail and authorities say Gonzales allegedly fired a shotgun that appeared to have made a small mark on his son's face. The mark may have been a ricochet from Gonzales firing the gun.

Gonzales left the scene by the time Flathead County Sheriff's Deputies arrived and the victim was reportedly uncooperative and refused treatment.

Gonzales was later found at his residence and taken into custody.
