A Bozeman man pleaded guilty in federal court in Missoula today to child pornography charges.
Joseph Franklin Reynolds, 20, pleaded guilty to transfer of obscene material to minors and receipt of child pornography.
Reynolds found a boy's cell phone on Sept. 21, 2011 at the Bozeman skate park and messaged an image of his penis to a 14-year-old girl listed in the phone, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The Bozeman Police Department, a member of the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigated the case. Reynold's cell phone and computer were seized and forensically analyzed. Images and videos depicting child pornography were located on both items, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Reynolds is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 7. He is currently released on special conditions. He faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and could be sentenced to 20 years, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision.
The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Bozeman Police Department, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.
