The Bozeman Tea Party is condemning the shooting of Congresswoman Gabriella Giffords and others in Tuscon, Arizona over the weekend.

A statement released on Sunday says, "We ask that you join us in prayer for the Congresswoman's full recovery as well as the others who were wounded and for consolation of the families who lost loved ones."

"Fortunately, there have been few of these incidences in our country's history and we hope and pray to keep it that way."

The statement goes on to say that, "What separates us from many other countries is that we as Americans can engage in political discourse, intense campaigns and elections and even the transfer of power peacefully, without violence."

"Our Tea Party pledged from the beginning to uphold certain values among them non-violence and to work within the system to restore it to what our founding fathers envisioned--a Constitutional republic."

"We offer our condolences to all the families of the victims, mourn the unnecessary loss of life and pledge ourselves to continue our work that we must do and are called to do," the statement concluded.
