CONRAD - An 11-year-old Conrad girl who suffered serious burns in a house fire on Sunday is continuing her recovery in a Salt Lake City hospital.
A spokeswoman at University Hospital says that Julia Winney is currently in the burn center and is listed in critical condition.
Despite the severity of her injuries, family members tell us that Julia's recovery is progressing and they are cautiously optimistic that she will be able to return home to Montana soon.
A post on the "Prayers, Thoughts, Hopes & Love for Julia Winney" Facebook says she is due to have a surgery on Friday, and the doctor won't be done "until she's satisfied and J's hands are beautiful."
Donations can be mailed to Stockman Bank, P.O. Box 727, Conrad, MT 59425. Donations can also be made at any branch of Stockman Bank under the Julia Winney Benefit Account. Any non-cash donations can be coordinated with Jennifer and Kristopher Moen at 406-750-5463.
Julia's father, Dan, tells us that the family is very grateful for the outpouring of support they have received, and says that "whether we know you or do not know you, the family, Julia included, sends thanks, blessings and love."
