BUTTE - A family of four was taken to the hospital after escaping a fire that broke out inside their home early Monday morning.
Butte-Silver Bow firefighters were called to the scene at 8:23 a.m. and when they arrived at #33 at 201 Hobson Street in the mobile home park off Rowe Road, a lot of smoke could be seen coming from the structure, police Sgt. Ed Heard said.
They found the family, two adults and two young girls, standing outside of the home. The man's right hand and elbow were covered in blood from breaking a window so that the family could escape, Heard said. All four were taken to the hospital for minor injuries and treatment of smoke inhalation, according to police.
As of 9 a.m., firefighters had extinguished the blaze and were mopping up. Firefighters were still at the scene at that time pulling debris out of the home. The inside of the structure sustained heavy damage.
The fire originated in living room area of the home, Fire Marshal John Lasky said. Officials do not yet know what caused the fire.
Lasky said he has called Red Cross whose representatives will be heading to the hospital to help the family.
