BUTTE- Frank Hansen of Butte reportedly hanged himself with a bed sheet on Thursday afternoon in the Butte Detention Center. Hansen, 40, was found by officials who began giving assistance around 3:45 p.m.
He was pronounced dead at St. James Healthcare about an hour later.
Thursday was Hansen's 258th day in the Butte Detention Center.
He was accused of making meth at a vacant home at 1014 South Delaware Avenue and igniting a fire or causing an explosion on the property, placing others in danger, including a firefighter responding to the scene, on June 30, 2011.
The two-story structure is located a half a block from Butte Central Elementary School.
In a complaint filed by the county attorney's office, Hansen was charged with seven felonies and one misdemeanor: two counts of arson, criminal production or manufacture of dangerous drugs, criminal distribution of dangerous drugs, operation of an unlawful clandestine laboratory and doing so with 500 feet of a school and a misdemeanor for obstructing a peace officer.
Hansen pleaded guilty to the charges and according to District Court Judge Brad Newman.
He was scheduled for sentencing next week.
