The future of Cal Poly football will change later on Tuesday.

Cal Poly has called a press conference to make a major announcement regarding the Mustang football program. It will be conducted by interim president Dr. Robert Glidden, director of athletics Alison Cone and head football coach Tim Walsh.

Cal Poly football is currently a member of the Great West Conference. There is speculation Cal Poly could be invited to join the Western Athletic Conference at the Football Bowl Subdivision level, or the Big Sky Conference which currently includes Montana State and Montana, or even start a new conference.

For now, it's all speculation and rumors until the announcement is made. It could even be about a large financial donation to the program.

The Big Sky Conference also has a press conference schelduled for Tuesday afternoon.
