WHITEFISH- A Flathead County man and his girlfriend are in custody after creating a short lived standoff.
Matt Lamb, 26, from Whitefish and 24-year-old Sidney Aimsback were wanted in Cascade County for allegedly beating a man and stealing a 2003 Dodge Durango and fled to Flathead County.
Whitefish Police Officers located the stolen vehicle at a house on Karrow Avenue in Whitefish at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamb and Aimsback left the residence in the stolen vehicle but didn't make it far.
Police followed the suspects to the area of Murray Avenue where resident Faith Shuck was relaxing at her home when she heard sirens and yelling.
"I looked out my living room window and there were four police officers cars out there and I saw someone being yelled at to stop resisting, to get out. Two officers looked like they had guns drawn."
Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial says Lamb was uncooperative and wouldn't follow commands.
"We've had a lot of contact with Matt and when generally he's not a bad kid, but when he gets himself involved in these kinds of things he can be pretty threatening and last night he was. It was a big threat."
Lamb and Aimsback are being held in jail for the Cascade County assault and theft.
During the standoff Lamb reportedly stripped off his clothing and was inappropriate as officers tried to get him to follow commands but at this time charges have not been filed against the pair.
