Child safe, suspect wanted in Wyoming kidnapping

CODY, WY- Authorities in Wyoming are searching for a man who is accused of abducting and sexually assaulting an 11-year-girl in Cody on Monday.

The girl has been found and reunited with her family.

The man enticed the 11-year-old girl into his vehicle from the Park County Complex by asking for help in locating his missing puppy, and then reportedly threatened the child with a pistol.

The youth has since been found and reunited with family, but the Cody Police Department is asking for help locating the man responsible for the crime.

Police say the suspect is a white man between 55 and 60 years old, weighing 185 to 200 pounds with short strawberry blonde or white hair, neatly or newly trimmed moustache or beard.

The man was last seen wearing brown shirt, blue jeans, and a tan baseball cap. He was driving a white SUV-type vehicle with two grey leather seats in the front and the back compartment area open with a mattress on the floor.

Authorities do not have a license plate, and say the man may be living out of the vehicle. There was a black and red backpack and a package of bottled water tied to a roof rack of the vehicle.

Police say the man is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is asked to call the Cody Police Department at (307) 527.8700, or their local law enforcement agency.
