Chrissy Kohler came to KPAX and KAJ in April of 2011 after living in Columbia South Carolina for seven years. She is very excited to experience the variety of weather Montana has to offer. She also is looking forward to becoming an expert skier.

Chrissy grew up outside of Dayton, Ohio dealing with all sorts of weather from tornados to blizzards. Her fear of tornados and thunderstorms is actually what prompted her to study the weather. The more she learned, the less scared she became and the more intrigued she was in meteorology.

Chrissy moved south for college to the University of South Carolina to get a taste of some of the warmer weather and beaches South Carolina has to offer. During college, Chrissy studied abroad for a semester in a small town outside of Venice, Italy. It was one of her favorite college experiences as she got to study international journalism and got to learn about a new culture. While in Italy, Chrissy also learned to speak Italian.

In 2008, Chrissy began working at WIS News 10 in Columbia, South Carolina after a summer internship. She worked at WIS part-time her last year of college as the weekend assignment editor.

After graduation, Chrissy immediately enrolled in Mississippi State University's Broadcast Meteorology Program, knowing that meteorology was the career for her. After pursuing a few options, she decided to stay on at WIS as an assignment editor and forecaster.

Chrissy is very active in the community. One of her favorite parts of her job is going on school visits or other community events to interact with all of you! Outside of work, Chrissy can be found enjoying a hike with her dog, Maggie, or at the local coffee shop reading a book.
