KALISPELL - A man is behind bars after leading the Flathead County Sheriff's Department deputies on a pursuit that ended with a woman holding the suspect at gunpoint outside her home.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says Thursday's incident began when deputies began pursuing Jordan Elliot, 26, of Kalispell on the north end on Whitefish Stage Road.

The chase ended in a parking lot in Evergreen where Elliot allegedly hit a deputy's vehicle before taking off on foot.

Authorities began what Curry calls "an extensive ground search," which ended when Elliot was confronted by a resident of Cottonwood Drive, who had heard of the pursuit on his scanner.

Curry says Michael Stephens tried to physically detain Elliot, but the suspect grabbed a flashlight from Stephens and began to hit him with it.

The attack ended when Amy Stephens came to her husband's aid and held Elliot at gunpoint until authorities arrived on the scene.

Elliot was arrested and taken to jail, with Curry saying that the Flathead County Attorney's Office is reviewing the case and charges are pending against Elliot.
