MISSOULA- Family members of the clerk who was shot in last Friday's robbery say Adam Gallegos, 21, is in stable condition, but he has a long recovery ahead of him. Gallegos' aunt says her nephew suffered several major internal injuries, including the loss of his right lung.

Investigators say the alleged shooter, Christopher Lee Burch, walked into the gas station with a rifle, wearing a mask and dark clothing. He reportedly demanded money from Gallegos, who said "no" and that's when Burch allegedly shot him.

"Adam is a fun loving, friendly, easy going, hard working guy. We are grateful to the Missoula community for sending their thoughts and prayers. We don't want to offend anyone but please allow the family some time and privacy during this difficult time," said Gallegos' aunt, Kimberly Gallegos.

Donation buckets are set up at the Ole's gas stations in Missoula and East Missoula. A community benefit fund should be set up at the Missoula Federal Credit Union by the end of the week.
