Climber hurt after falling in Hyalite Canyon

BOZEMAN - A man was hurt while climbing in Hyalite Canyon on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., with officials saying that the victim failed to properly secure his three anchor points and fell while climbing from Practice Rock.

It took at least 35 volunteers and first responders to brace the man and carefully get him down the mountain and into an ambulance.

This is the same area where Gallatin County Sheriff's Office Deputy John "Amos" Ridenour was killed while climbing earlier this month.

The climber's condition is unknown at this time.
