Connecticut firefighters headed to West Garceau Fire

HARTFORD, CT- Connecticut officials said Wednesday firefighters from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are headed out to help battle the West Garceau Fire burning near Polson.

A 20-person fire crew will be left early Thursday morning from the DEEP Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough, Connecticut to head west. The crew, consisting of 12 DEEP staff and eight private-sector firefighters, will be deployed for up to two weeks.

The West Garceau Fire is burning about 8,800 acres near Polson after being sparked by farm machinery in nearby Hot Springs on Monday evening.
