KALISPELL- The rides, food and animals attract people to the Northwest Montana Fair, and on Wednesday night there was one other event that drew in crowds. Country music star Rodney Atkins held a concert at the fairgrounds along with several other local musicians.

Fairgrounds Manager Mark Campbell contacted Atkins management months ago about appearing at the fair. He says concerts in the grandstands create excitement and energy and that attracts people to the fair.

"We use that interest area to get people here so then we can showcase them the animals and the livestock and the quilts. Concerts bring them here so that we can educate them about all of the great stuff that the fair is about," Campbell said.

Rodney Atkins will also make a stop in Dillon for the Dillon Jaycee Fair on September 2nd.
