HYSHAM- Crews battling to contain the Horse Creek fire burning south of Hysham, have a new wildfire to deal with.
Paula Short, Fire Information Officer with the Montana Department of Natural Resources tells Montana's News Station that the Horse Creek II fire sparked Tuesday afternoon about two miles east of the main Horse Creek Fire.
Initial size estimates put the Horse Creek II fire at only 50 acres in size, but crews were bracing for 40 mph wind gusts Tuesday evening.
Like the main Horse Creek fire, the Horse Creek II is burning in the vicinity of a main transmission line for Northwestern Energy, and is also threatening the Williston Basin Natural Gas Pipeline that is buried in the area.
