LIBBY - Those affected by asbestos-related diseases in Libby have until Tuesday to apply for the Libby Medical Trust Plan.
The plan is a $19.5 million bankruptcy court settlement for the W.R. Grace vermiculite mine that operated from 1963 to 1990 and caused widespread asbestos contamination in the Libby area.
November 20th is the deadline to enroll in this trust plan which is designed to reimburse victims for some of their medical costs.
It's been estimated about 400 people have died due to asbestos related diseases and thousands more have been affected, according to the Center for Asbestos Related Diseases in Libby.
Applications can be obtained from Bailey Insurance in Kalispell or from C.A.R.D., but those who think they may be eligible must meet certain requirements.
We're told you cannot enroll for the trust plan after Tuesday, but free asbestos related disease screenings will continue to be available at CARD.
