BISMARCK, ND - A shooting and kidnapping suspect out of Idaho has been apprehended in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The Bismarck Police Department arrested Mitchell Lee Walck sometime on Wednesday.

Officers responded to the Oasis Truck Stop, where a North Dakota man had found Walck inside the sleeper cab of his semi truck. Walck threatened the man with a handgun and then fled on foot into a mobile home park.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area where a witness spotted Walck and found him hiding under a pine tree. Police took Walck into custody without incident. He had a 9 mm handgun in his waistband, officials said.

Walck had been on the run after allegedly shooting at Idaho State Police and kidnapping a woman in Rathdrum, Idaho. She was released unhurt in Glendive, Montana.

In addition to being arrested for a warrant out of Idaho, Walck was arrested for unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, terrorizing and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police recovered a 2005 Silver Subaru Forester in a nearby parking lot that was reported stolen from Idaho.

Walck will be taken to the Burleigh County Detention Center.
