Dixon fatal stabbing suspect has criminal history

MISSOULA - The man being charged with deliberate homicide in last week's deadly home invasion has a long criminal history.

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) says Nathan Calvert's criminal history dates back to 2002. DOC officials say all but one of the following offenses were misdemeanors:

2002 - partner/family member assault
2003 - assault
2007 - assault
2008 - assault
partner/family member assault
partner/family member assault
2009 - criminal mischief
possession of drug paraphernalia
criminal mischief
disorderly conduct
2010 - disorderly conduct
partner/family member assault (felony) - five years suspended

During his sentencing for the 2010 PFMA, the judge ordered Calvert to successfully complete the Missoula County Family Treatment Court. He was an active participant in that court, but has yet to finish the program.

DOC says Calvert also disobeyed his probation officer by smoking marijuana and fighting with his partner, but none of those violations resulted in new criminal charges.

Calvert was on an alcohol monitoring bracelet at the time of the alleged fatal stabbing in Dixon, but he was never on a GPS monitor.
