GREAT FALLS - A documentary crew is re-living the expedition days of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore how the explorers survived despite the primitive medical practices of the early 1800s.
The documentary, "...Or Perish In The Attempt," originated from a book Dr. David Peck wrote 10 years ago which delves into the medicinal uses and practices during Lewis and Clark's exploration of the West.
Peck, who also serves as the producer of the film, noted, "It's an amazing miracle really that this expedition came back and only lost one guy. That's really the story that we're trying to tell."
The crew will spend the next several days shooting around Great Falls, with performers including Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center employees and paid actors from California and Michigan.
The production crew is from all over the country, but the chief photographer is from Great Falls.
