MISSOULA - The competition is stacking up at the Southgate Mall Friday as teams build structures from canned food to benefit the Montana Food Bank Network.

More than ten teams from area businesses and schools are constructing for a cause at the second annual Canstruction event at the Southgate Mall.

The teams have a six-hour time limit to complete the structures that many groups started designing months ago.

A group of students from St. Joes are building a "canthedral" as their entry.

From peanut butter to tuna, the Food Bank Network development manager Kathryn McCleery said this year's donations are impressive and appreciated.

"This event is so important to the Montana Food Bank Network mostly because it's just a great way for us to get out and for people to be able to get on board and say it's not okay for there to by hungry children in Montana," McCleery said.

Once the competition is over the Food Bank Network will distribute all the food across the state.

They provide goods to nearly 30 organizations in Missoula alone.
