Ex-Sen. Feingold speaks out against Citizens Untied at UM

MISSOULA- He championed campaign reform as a U.S. senator, and now as a private citizen he brought the same message to the University of Montana.

Former Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold criticized the U.S. Supreme Courts Citizens United ruling on campus Monday.

Feingold said he believes Montana is a real battleground against Citizens United, which opened the door for corporations to spend freely in elections.

"Montana is really one of the most, if not the most important state in the country when it comes to challenging the bad decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in Citizens United. Montana is saying ‘wait a minute, we don't want corporations to control our democracy.' So, I'm very proud to be here to talk about that," he told us in an interview.

Feingold spoke during a forum on Monday as part of the University of Montana President's Lecture Series.
