SIDNEY - North Dakota National Guardsman Darren Linde, a Sidney native, was laid to rest Tuesday in his hometown.
The 41-year old Sergeant First Class, died last week when his vehicle was hit with a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.
His memorial took place at the Richland County Fair Event Center in Sidney, where we're told as many as 750 people turned out to honor and pay their respects to the fallen soldier.
Linde leaves behind his wife, Adrienne, and their four children. Adrienne spoke at the funeral, saying she was proud of her husband now, more than ever.
Two of his daughters also sang during the ceremony. One song they chose to sing was "Heaven was Needing a Hero" by Jo Dee Messina.
Flags across Montana were flying at half-staff Tuesday to honor Linde.
