GREAT FALLS - An organization that helps people with mental disabilities is expanding its efforts to the Great Falls area.

Farm In The Dell allows people with mental disabilities to live and work, and give back to the community through farming and ranching.

There are currently two locations in Montana; one in Helena and one in Kalispell, as well as other locations out of the state and country, including one in Kyrgyzstan, a country embroiled in violence recently.

The founder of the program, Lowell Bartels, is expecting to start construction on a location just outside of Great Falls near the Sun River this summer.

"We have over 2,000 individuals to place in group homes right now in Montana. So we have to take care of them, but not only take care of them but to allow themselves to take care of themselves."

The 40 acres for the new location were donated and Bartels said over $80,000 has been raised so far for the construction costs.

He's hoping to expand efforts even further, to each of the major Montana cities and Canada.
