HELENA- Stage 1 fire restrictions are now in effect for Painted Rocks State Park in Darby and Fort Owen State Park in Stevensville.
Montana State Parks is implementing the restrictions at the state parks in coordination with Bitterroot National Forest in Ravalli County, according to a news release.
The decision means that all campfires and open flames are now prohibited at Painted Rocks and Fort Owen state parks, however propane and LPG camp stoves are allowed. Smoking is not allowed except in enclosed vehicles or developed sites at least three feet in diameter and cleared of all flammable materials.
An update on stateparks.mt.gov will be issued when the restriction is lifted.
