Firestone Flats fire near Arlee growing

ARLEE - Fire officials report the Firestone Flats fire burning northeast of Arlee has officially burned 1,300 acres, but tribal dispatch reports the blaze has grown to about 2,000 acres, and 21 residences remain under evacuation orders.

The blaze along Jock Valley Road, which broke out Saturday afternoon is still moving east, and more crews continue to arrive on the scene.

There are 11 aircraft assigned to battle the blaze along with ground crews, with fire officials telling us they are not worried about the fire on the St. Mary or Lakeside sides.

Several roads remain closed in the area. There's no word yet on what sparked the blaze.
