KALISPELL- The Flathead County Commissioners decided on Tuesday to apply for Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for private lands and lands in Flathead County.
The fire danger is very high right now and county officials are concerned that a small fire could turn into something big.
Stage 1 Restrictions means that burning slash piles or garbage is prohibited. If you smoke cigarettes be sure it's in a cleared area and don't toss your butts out the window.
Flathead County fire manager Lincoln Chute says that camp fires are allowed but need to be in a 3 foot ring with the grass mowed around it and fireworks are prohibited.
"This is a precautionary thing that we just got to really make sure everyone understands that the fire danger is very high and something very small could grow rapidly."
Chute added you can be billed for the cost in damages created by fire if you are responsible for the causing it.
