KALISPELL - Local health officials say that more people are still reporting the flu in Flathead County, with 551 lab confirmed cases since the beginning of the flu season now being reported.

The Flathead City-County Health Department reports 115 new cases cropped up last week, and the week before that the county recorded 114 new cases.

Whooping cough is still a concern as well with four new cases of pertussis being reported on Wednesday.

Flathead City County Public Health Director Joe Russell says the flu season typically tends to wind down around this time of year.

"It's hard to predict if we're coming to the end where we're going to start to draw down or if we're going to see another couple weeks of high confirmed cases, Russell explained.

Health officials say it's especially important to wash your hands, cover your cough, and refrain from touching your face to keep yourself from getting the flu.
