Fundraising event set for peace sign film

MISSOULA - A Minnesota filmmaker is in Missoula to kick-off her documentary film about Missoula's historic and controversial peace sign that once sat on Water Works hill.

Jan Selby is an independent director and producer of documentary films based in St. Paul who has already started the ground work for a film called 9 Pieces of Peace"

Along with telling the story of the peace sign's birth in 1983 and its demise in 2001, Selby will focus on many different views of the story behind the peace sign.

She tells us the film is in its infant stages and much more work needs to be done, along with a lot of fundraising.

"This is a movie that's going to support the multiple perspectives so we really want people with all different views to share. Its going to be a great film and the different perspectives will make it much more interesting," Selby said.

A fundraising event for the 9 Pieces of Peace on Wednesday, July 28th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ten Spoon Winery in Missoula. There will be music, food and a sneak preview of the movie trailer Videographers will also be on-hand for people to share their stories.
