WHITEFISH - The fundraising efforts to save a Girl Scout tradition in the Flathead Valley got underway on Saturday, starting with a bake sale.
Girl Scout troops are trying to raise at least $250,000 by January 15th to buy a permanent easement for the property Camp Westana sits on.
The fundraising efforts are being primarily run by Columbia Falls troop leader Becky Johnson, who says the bake sale at Whitefish Mountain Mall helped gain local support and educate more people about their cause.
The Montana and Wyoming Girl Scouts council plans to end the property lease on the camp next month, although that decision is not final.
