WHITEFISH- Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials have made a final decision on how to manage, and possibly remove, milfoil from Beaver Lake near Whitefish.
The plant was first discovered near the boating ramp last fall and FWP, along with other agencies, recently sought comments from the public on ways to deal with the milfoil infestation.
Milfoil is an invasive weed that can crowd out native plants as well as interfere with boating and swimming.
FWP received three written comments from people and all were in support of the proposal to use barrier mats, herbicide treatments, machines, or all these methods, to remove the weed.
Beaver Lake is the only lake in the Flathead Valley known to be infested.
