Gas stolen from Kalispell U-Haul adding up

KALISPELL - Thieves are making off with gasoline from a local U-Haul store, and the owner said it's hitting his business hard.

Havens' Motorsports and U-Haul owner Zach Havens says the thefts are adding up to hundreds of dollars, and are taking away from this local business.

Havens incorporated U-Haul into his business just a few months ago. Within the past three weeks, gas has been siphoned twice.

The first amounted to about $100 and the second, $70. Being a small business owner in this economy means the thefts really impact Havens' business.

"It's pretty hard right now," he said. "We've had that and we're trying to make ends meet around here with everything and getting gas stolen is kind of a heartbreaker for me."

Haven says he will be making some security changes - which means more out-of-pocket expenses - to try and keep this from happening again.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call the Kalispell Police Department.
