MISSOULA - One of the longest winning streaks in the state came to an end last week on the high school hoops court.
Sentinel had rolled through their first 14 games, but the defending champs were tripped up in Kalispell. The Glacier girls pulled off the upset, 49-37. The Wolfpack did sit in second place in our all-class poll, but the win over the Spartans doesn't give them the edge over the Spartans.
Here's the poll for this week:
1 - Sentinel (15-1, Western AA)
2 - Glacier (13-3, Western AA)
3. Columbia Falls (14-4, Northwest A)
4. Hamilton (13-3, Southwest A)
5. Flathead (7-7, Western AA)
6. Frenchtown (13-4, Northwest A)
7. Seeley-Swan (17-1, 13C)
8. Arlee (15-3, 14C)
9. Drummond (15-3, 13C)
10. Florence (13-5, 6B)
Sentinel is 15-1 while Glacier is 13-3, so we keep the Spartans ahead of the Wolfpack. Hamilton's setback against Stevensville drops the Broncs behind steady Columbia Falls. Flathead lost a couple league games, so the Bravettes slip to #5.
Frenchtown jumps ahead of Seeley-Swan for #6, and Arlee just finished the regular season with a perfect league record. The Scarlets now rank #8, switching spots with Drummond. Florence once again rounds out the top 10.
