MISSOULA- The Montana Grizzlies wrapped up their 10th straight day of practice on Thursday, but right now, everyone is loving two-a-days.
The new lights in Washington-Grizzly Stadium let Montana change around their workout schedule this year, so now the second practice of the day starts at 7:45. That lets the Griz get out of the heat, while turning up the atmosphere a few notches.
"I really like the two-a-days. We get a little bit more time off of our feet in the afternoon. And I feel like it gives us a better opportunity to get out there and get after it a little bit more at night. You know, I like the atmosphere of playing under the lights," offensive tackle Danny Kistler, Jr. said.
"There's been three or four times it's been 100, or right near there. So you still get that aspect of it on a one-a-day practice. And then on the two-a-day I think, you know, just because your mind and body are not so fatigued standing in that head, that you're able to accomplish a little bit more," coach Mike Delaney added.
Delaney pointed out the offensive lineman can lose up to eight pounds in one practice during the heat. But so far, they have all bounced back to their playing weight by the next day.
The Grizzlies hold their second scrimmage of camp on Saturday morning at about 10 in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
