Gun sought in 2011 Gray Wolf casino robbery

MISSOULA - The Missoula County Sheriff's Office is looking for the public's help in a finding a handgun that they believe was used in a 2011 holdup.

Authorities have charged David Whaley with robbing the Gray Wolf Casino on May 7, 2011, but say the handgun he used is still unaccounted for so they are looking for help from the community.

Whaley may have hidden the handgun or sold it to someone in the Missoula or Polson area, according to a news release issued by the Missoula County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jason Johnson.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the handgun is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (406) 531.1756 or Crimestoppers at (406) 721.4444.

The gun is said to be a .40 caliber Springfield Armory XD with a green handle and a possible serial number of US415933.

Callers to Crimestoppers may remain anonymous, and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for providing information about the handgun.
