MISSOULA- A Bitterroot Valley girl who is battling a brain tumor had one wish- to meet NFL Quarterback Tim Tebow. So, she harnessed the power of the Internet, as well as higher power and discovered her prayers were answered in ways she never thought possible.
A YouTube video, made by a 17-year-old girl and her friends, and watched by thousands, has made her wish come true. Come March, Alisa Hoke will get to meet the Bronco Quarterback when he comes to Missoula for a fundraiser.
Alisa has lived a life of faith, something the 4'10" girl has in common with the NFL quarterback.
"He's so much more than an athlete because his faith in God sticks about above everything. He doesn't huddle in a corner and pray, he sticks out in front of all those people and praises the lord. He's awesome," Alisa told us.
Her enthusiasm is contagious and commendable. She's been dealt a tough blow, a brain tumor almost killed her and the radiation and low-grade chemo and the surgery haven't been easy.
The tumor is now back and she's scheduled for more brain surgery soon. The Hamilton teen had to learn to walk again after the first round, so it begs the question as to why she isn't bitter about the hand that fate has dealt her.
"We are the light of the world, we have to lift people up no pity, you just end up making yourself sicker. I didn't want to be that person," she explained.
It didn't take long for Missoula media to use it's connections to get Alisa a ticket to see her role model.
"I try to think of what I'm going to say, [whether] I'm going to leap on him or be dumbfounded. I can't even think about it," Alisa said.
She had no idea her little YouTube message would get so much attention and she hopes that maybe someone will find their own faith.
Alisa turns 18 on Thursday. Click below to watch Alisa's YouTube video.
